HELLO! 

My name is Madeleine McVie, Founder and CEO of BASIC. 

I have quite literally grown up in the snow industry in my family’s ski and snowboard store PROSKI and have been on a pair of skis since two years of age.

I have worked in PROSKI for over 7 years now, on the floor talking to customers and I witness people, struggle to find technical, high quality snow outerwear to fit them on a daily basis.

Despite that willingness to invest in quality gear, they’re left either empty handed or forced to compromise on a product that doesn’t fully suit their needs. Oftentimes that compromise is either low quality, ill-fitting and frankly daggy plus size options or in my case, if you are not willing to compromise on quality, men’s clothing. This can often leave the consumer feeling excluded and self-conscious, even raising doubts as to whether they belong to the snow sports community. 

BASIC aims to create high quality, “not-so-basic” technical snow apparel and accessories for everyone. Our brand has set out to revolutionise the snow industry by embracing inclusivity. We believe that every individual, regardless of their shape and size, should have access to stylish and functional snow gear.

While this is the ultimate dream, due to lack of finance and 2-minute noodle uni student budget we are starting out small and building our range from the ground up, starting with tees, hoodies and accessories and working our way up to outer wear!
